Trempo is a unique organization devoted to the practice, creation, teaching, production, and transmission of emerging music. Founded in 1990, it has been located in its emblematic seven-storey building in the heart of Île de Nantes since 2011. This living space is made up of 2300 m2 (25,000 ft2) of workspace, music studios, a terrace, and a bar that is open on weekdays.
Along with its partners, Trempo offers programs providing artistic support, courses, workshops, professional training modules, and a cultural agenda that introduces new artists and gives carte blanche to local organizations. It supports artists and their professional collaborators with the goal of imagining new trajectories, while building sustainable careers. Trempo engages in numerous partnerships with the world of education and research.
Trempo sees itself as a welcoming space that is open to all, that works with its neighbours to bring together different audiences, that highlights a diversity of aesthetics, and encourages musical practice. On a local, national or European scale, and within cooperative networks, Trempo is committed to developing and sharing its expertise in the fields of music and culture.
